Happy Christmas

Image from The Telegraph

Go to sleep.

These new slogans made me laugh.

A love story.

Do you need holiday hair?

Make this granola, it is yummy!

A perfect gift for someone cute!

Everything you could possibly want to know.

For the artsy wrappers.

And this "cover" is the funniest thing on the internets. I belly laughed my way through it.

Free Advertisement

I have a long wonderment with the world of advertising. Love and hate it for being such a huge part of modern society.
I appreciate beautiful advertisements and this one is especially adorable.

Sight&Sound

The original is super good, but the remix makes finals week feel like a party. Well, nothing can make finals week feel like a party but this was close.
I have three more classes and then I am done with this semester! It has been one of the most boring months of my life, I'm ready for Christmas adventures!!! Cabins in the woods here I come!

Gemma Correll is my favorite!

Lyrics No Music

Hopefully I will get this little song recorded some time so my 34 fans can hear it but mostly because it will force me to create more than just a melody and lyrics but something to go along with it. This song shows the Alaskan in me, I think. It is really hilarious to change the lyrics for lawyer... a late night at the office, then he will come home to me, tired from paperwork, he will smell like a sub that he ate for lunch, he will grumble and state his case... well that wasn't really hilarious but I imagine a plumber version could be quite funny.

A fisherman's wife is what I'd like to be,
Away from the hustle and bustle just sea.
A fisherman's wife is what I'd like to be,
nothing much more for me, please.

His nights late at sea,
then he will come home to me,
weathered from the wind,
he will smell like the fish and salt from the air,
he will smile and tell his tale.

A fisherman's wife is what I'd like to be,
Away from the hustle and bustle just sea.
A fisherman's wife is what I'd like to be,
nothing much more for me, please.

We will have a life much smaller than most,
with fish and bread and tea.
Oats in the morning for strength for the day,

we will glance at each other and I'll smile and say.

A fisherman's wife is what I like to be,
Away from the hustle and bustle just sea.
A fisherman's wife is what I  like to be,
nothing much more for me, please.

Sleep doesn't come

Sometimes sleep feels like an achievement, tonight I have been unable to obtain it. I think I have thought about almost everything: the regulars at the restaurant I work at, my up coming commemorative speech that I don't want to be cheesy, the blazer I thrifted today that needs shoulder pad removal surgery, how watching football with my dad has been going, how big my room is and the roommates/best friends I miss, about the weirdness of high school, if running makes me unable to fall asleep...and on and on.
My brain feels kinda like this nasty pond in Yoyogi Park, Tokyo.

Rant

Carrie Underwood as Maria in Sound of Music
I'm upset... I'm pretty sure many a broadway hopeful would be a better cast choice.
The person who clogged the radio with Before He Cheats, is going to be Maria!? Oh and there is that song Last Name which we all wished we couldn't remember. Maria with a southern accent.

There is a bright side! It is the play version, recorded live for TV. So it isn't a movie, and will probably stay small and hopefully the children will still love Julie Andrews.

end rant.

And because I am obsessed with moose! Isn't he adorably grumpy.

Really?

Naps & Dogs

Mostly just ^ that, but then here are lots of words from my head...
Naps: I am a nap person. Of course as a child I thought they were an ancient torture technique that the mothers of America had adopted to get time alone, but as a teenager who worked as a camp counselor I soon found their value. (Its not hard when you are keeping track of 12 hyper girls between 8-12, and then the next week you get more, and the next week you get more. repeat.) Naps do have the down side of the first ten minutes after you wake up... you feel you have dementia and are a small whimpering child for 10 minutes but it gets much better and for the rest of the day, you too can feel like that girl on Happy-go-lucky... so basically - happy and go lucky.

Dogs: I'm not a dog person. I don't see a dog. and run after it. and ask its owners if I can pet it. I pet dogs that run up to me, mostly out of obligation. But I am not a cruel, soul-less human, I just don't like how they jump on me. There are two dogs that I like. One is Kit,  a mini Lassie dog (I know there is a bread name but remember... not a "dog person"), this dog is fluffy, soft, and nice, also it can go hiking even though it is so short. The other is Lark, she has one blue eye and one not blue eye. This dog is very sweet, stays near while walking, running, snowshoeing and probably other activities...but she turns into a wild animal while playing fetch till, its awesome!
My family has a dog, pretty much he barks too much, has bad breath, and is generally unpleasant however I do enjoy his company while napping...sometimes, the dog provides much warmth!
That is Lark. and me... it looks like I took a nap that day!

Tokyo, Wasada | remember journal

Wasada campus pond. Hongosonchome  Station.

In a way I went here to hide from everything. This was a safe and clear spot for thinking.
I also took people here just to talk and sometimes to eat.
It is one of the only places in Tokyo that you can't see a single building.
Thanks little oasis! I'm glad I found you on accident.

Face

Its interesting how our emotions show on our faces and in our eyes. This week and weeks before I have wondered why my tears have to be so visible. I want to cry out my elbow, thank you very much!! I'll just discreetly stick a tissue in my sweater and no one will know.
Being known is scary.

kids in cookie cutters

Random Rant.

Why is craft time for kids always so specific? It goes like this. Some adult makes something cute and easy made out of cheap things and then makes it into a 5 step process. They buy all the plastic beads, save up weird things like toilet paper tubes and soups cans, and pull out some bad scissor. Then they put their craft out infront of all the kids and the best copy cat wins! Where is the art? Where is the creativity? I got an idea, how about you put all the most beautiful things out on a table and let them make whatever they want! And if they want to recycle the cereal box and cover it with buttons and make the cutest, ugliest hat you have ever seen, so be it! They used their mind and expressed their heart.

Beautiful Portraits

My new favorite blog to look at:
youaremywild.wordpress.com

Its a collaboration project!!! My favorite kind of project!

You Are My Wild is a weekly portrait project that brings together 14 photographers to document how they see their children.
Take a look! (cause unlike this blog they actually post weekly! imagine that!)

May this be the year hundreds of thousands of beautiful Japanese people falls in love with you. That another awakening blazes across America.
Let this year be one of discovery and wonder.
